Software developer (also tutor & actor)

While always involved in software development, I have worked professionally as a teacher of maths & computer science and as a scientist in education & defence. I was a senior research assistant in a university research centre for several years. But my first full-time paid job in software development was in 1990, in a team of 100+ people programming big database applications on mainframes for Telecom (now Telstra). I taught and developed curriculum resources for the first wave of web development subjects at TAFE NSW. Im now a software developer and mathematics tutor operating as a sole proprietor. In addition to the usual IT stuff, like networking and data transformation and operating system recovery, I like to work on free open-source software projects for niche operating systems on ARM hardware. I have developed software in the telecommunications, education and defence sectors, designing and building anything and everything: operating system modules; robotic control systems; apps for the classroom; and multi-user networked web-based client-server systems with databases for back-end storage. So if your software/hardware requirements are a little beyond the usual, I may have the old-school skills and experience to help you.
